Scooter B. Stevens, later known on-air and professionally as Brett Stevens, was a longtime Colorado Springs radio programmer whose Southern Colorado career included major programming roles at KKMG 98.9 and KBIQ 102.7. Contemporary Hitmakers reporting lists Scooter B. Stevens as KKMG program director by July 1990, with Trevor Grey handling mornings. By September 1992, an FMQB Colorado Springs market snapshot still identified Stevens as KKMG PD, working within a Citadel programming structure in which Chris Baker served as director of programming for the Colorado Springs operation. Stevens remained directly involved in building KKMG‘s air staff. Radio & Records classified advertising in November 1993 directed applicants for a KKMG morning-drive sidekick position to Stevens. In August 1995, another Radio & Records advertisement sought a creative morning personality for the Bill Richards-consulted CHR station and again directed applications to Scooter Stevens at KKMG. A 1996 Radio Business Report directory continued to list Scooter Stevens as program director of KKMG, documenting a multi-year tenure guiding the Pueblo-licensed station’s Colorado Springs-oriented CHR format. Stevens later became known as Brett Stevens during a long run at Christian AC KBIQ 102.7 in Colorado Springs. Radio & Records’ Christian AC reporting lists Brett Stevens as KBIQ program director in February 2007, with Jack Hamilton as music director. Independent event records show Stevens continuing to conduct KBIQ on-air interviews in 2011. The identification of Scooter B. Stevens and Brett Stevens as the same Colorado Springs broadcaster is preserved here from local industry knowledge supplied to the Colorado Radio Archive; the archive continues to seek a surviving contemporary trade source that explicitly documents the name transition.
