SUPPORT THE ARCHIVE
Help keep Colorado radio history alive.
I’m Dan Hardee, a Colorado native and longtime radio broadcaster. The Colorado Radio Archive is a personal passion project I built because too much of this history lives in old boxes, forgotten hard drives, aging tapes, and memories that can disappear if nobody takes the time to preserve them.
Why support matters
The regular out-of-pocket costs of running the archive are fairly modest. Hosting, storage and the basic tools are manageable. The bigger investment is time — a lot of it.
Keeping the archive accurate, useful and growing means doing the work behind every page, photo, recording and timeline entry. That includes:
- researching station histories, ownership changes, formats and facilities;
- tracking down and verifying dates, career moves, promotions and air staffs;
- writing and updating detailed station histories and professional biographies;
- linking people, stations, owners, markets and timeline events so the archive works as a real historical database;
- digitizing, organizing and cataloging old airchecks, video, photographs, documents and memorabilia;
- reviewing submissions, cleaning up metadata and identifying people, places and time periods;
- finding and documenting reliable sources so the history is supported, not guessed;
- maintaining the website, fixing broken links and media, and improving the archive as the collection grows.
I do this because I genuinely care about Colorado radio history and the people who made it. My goal is to keep the site free to explore and to keep adding as much material as I can while it can still be found and preserved.
