Bob Gourley was a longtime Colorado Springs radio executive whose career connected the Walton/KKCS era, the KIKX/KKCS LMA period and the later Clear Channel cluster.
By September 1992, FMQB listed Gourley as General Manager of KIKX 102.7 “The Max”. Later that year, Billboard reported that KIKX and KKCS entered a sales-only LMA, with KKCS General Manager Gourley replacing KIKX GM Dennis Lamme as part of the arrangement.
The 1993 Broadcasting & Cable Yearbook identifies Gourley as General Manager of KKCS, and mid-1990s Radio Business Report directories continued to list him as General Manager of the KIKX operation while Wiskes/Abaris ran KKCS AM/FM from the shared Centennial Boulevard facility.
By 2002, industry directories identify Gourley as General Manager of Clear Channel’s Colorado Springs operation, including KKLI and KVUU.
Gourley was also remembered as an important mentor inside the market. Tammy Oakland later recalled that he was her General Manager at KKCS when she was a part-time Production Assistant, and credited him with sending her to training seminars and helping give her an early foundation in radio.
