Jim Coda came to Southern Colorado to help launch The Eagle, the classic-rock station that began on KYZX 104.5 in 1998 and later moved to 103.9. The station’s classic-rock format debuted in May 1998; after Bahakel Communications acquired KYZX and its Pueblo sister stations, KYZX moved to 103.9 in 1999 and continued as 103.9 The Eagle.
Coda’s Colorado Springs career soon expanded beyond The Eagle. A March 17, 2000 Billboard/Airplay Monitor personnel report identifies Coda and Casey Page as the existing morning team at classic-rock KXZZ and reports that adult Top 40 KVUU paired the duo with KVUU night personality Craig Coffey for morning drive, replacing Rich and Michelle. The move created the short-lived Casey Page/Jim Coda/Craig Coffey morning lineup on KVUU.
Coda later worked at KKFM 98.1 during its classic-rock era. The 2003 Radio Power Book lists him as KKFM‘s music director alongside program director Bobby Irwin under Citadel Broadcasting; by the 2008-09 M Street directory, Coda was listed as KKFM program director.
