Heather Martinez, who used several surnames/on-air identities during her career including Heather Thornton and Heather Austin, was a Southern Colorado radio personality and production specialist whose local résumé crossed several stations. Historical radio-personality records place her at KKMG/Pueblo in 1990 as Heather Austin, KIKX/Colorado Springs in 1991-92 as Heather Thornton, and KKLI/Colorado Springs from the mid-1990s through 1997. A 1996 Radio And Production article directly identifies Heather Martinez at KKLI and quotes her discussing creativity and production. Later career records describe her KKLI work as including the “Lights Out Love Songs” show, production director and assistant production director duties. Martinez also worked at KOSI in Denver, later hosted weekends and “Love Songs” at KYXY/San Diego, and built a long career with Westwood One in imaging, format support, promotions and affiliate relations.
