Henry B. Tippie was a Colorado Springs radio owner and executive whose Tippie Communications owned KKLI 106.3 during the station’s K-Lite era. Radio Business Report’s 1996 Source Book lists Tippie Communications as owner and Henry Tippie as KKLI general manager. A 1997 industry directory again lists Tippie as GM, with Jo Fiandaco as GSM, Steve Larson as PD and Ray Uberecken as chief engineer, while noting the station’s pending $3.45 million sale to Citadel interests. Tippie’s ownership represents an important locally led chapter between KKLI‘s 1980s launch and its later consolidation into Citadel, Capstar/AMFM and Clear Channel.
