Steve Larson was program director of KKLI 106.3 in Colorado Springs during a key mid-1990s period in the station’s K-Lite adult-contemporary history. Radio & Records reported on April 21, 1995 that Soft AC KKLI had named Larson program director.
The 1996 Radio Business Report Source Guide documents the Tippie Communications management team with Henry B. Tippie as general manager, Jo Fiandaco as general sales manager, Steve Larson as program director and Ray Uberecken as chief engineer. Contemporary Radio & Records AC charts also identify Sharon Green as KKLI music director under Larson.
Larson remained KKLI program director into 1997. In June 1998, when Sharon Green stepped down from the music-director position, Radio & Records reported that Larson added music-director duties while Bo Roberts moved into the midday shift.
Larson later returned to the 92.9 frequency: his surviving career chronology places him at KSPZ in 2002. By 2008, after 92.9 had become KKPK/Peak FM, Larson reported that he was working in his production studio handling radio production for Freedom Communications newspapers around the country—including the Colorado Springs Gazette—while also working weekends on KKPK 92.9.
