Chuck Finney was a programmer at KKFM/96 Rock during the station’s early-to-mid-1980s era.
Billboard documents Finney as KKFM‘s new Program Director in April 1983. His early personnel moves included promoting evening personality Dave Ryan to Music Director. Finney was still programming KKFM in September 1984 when Ryan left for KLUC/Las Vegas.
By December 1985, Radio & Records reported that Finney had been appointed Corporate Program Director for Sky-HI, Inc., overseeing both KKFM/Colorado Springs and KVMT/Vail. The promotion documents his move from local station programming into multi-station oversight.
KKFM itself entered another important phase in 1986, when contemporary trade coverage documented the station’s move away from CHR toward the rock-based Colorado Classics approach.
