KSLV was the call sign of the 1240 AM station serving Monte Vista and Colorado’s San Luis Valley from 1954 until 2019. In 2019, the AM facility adopted the KBGV call sign. KSLV remains part of the history of the valley’s local broadcasting service.
History
KSLV signed on in 1954 and served communities across the San Luis Valley for more than six decades. It operated on 1240 kHz under the KSLV call letters through 2019, when the AM station’s identity changed to KBGV. The FM station KSLV-FM is a separate facility and retained the KSLV call sign; the two records represent distinct AM and FM services.
