KVFC (740 AM) is a commercial news/talk radio station licensed to Cortez, Colorado. It serves the Four Corners region and is operated by Hutton Broadcasting, LLC. KVFC was among the earliest radio stations in the Four Corners, first licensed in 1955 to Cortez businessman Jack Hawkins.
History
Jack Hawkins and Barney Hubbs established KVFC as a local voice for Cortez and southwestern Colorado. The call letters were associated with “The Voice of the Four Corners.” Hawkins remained closely connected to the station; Hawkins Street in Cortez, where the station is based, bears his name. KVFC developed into a regional news/talk outlet with national network programming and local coverage. The station’s FM translator extends its programming on 92.3 MHz in Cortez.
