KAVI was an AM radio station in Rocky Ford, Colorado, broadcasting on 1320 kHz. It began service on October 16, 1956, and became a long-running local station in the Arkansas Valley. Its AM license was cancelled by the FCC in 2023.
History
KAVI served Rocky Ford and nearby communities, and for many years was paired with sister station KAVI-FM. The AM station’s programming and service were rooted in the Arkansas Valley. The AM and FM outlets later developed distinct identities: KAVI-FM moved through several call signs on 95.5 MHz, while KAVI-AM remained on 1320 kHz until its license cancellation. The station’s cancellation ended the licensed AM service, though the KAVI name remains part of the region’s radio history.
