Jerry Grant was a longtime Colorado Springs radio sales executive and station manager whose career at KKCS extended from the early 1990s into the 2000s.
The Broadcasting & Cable Yearbook for 1993 lists Grant as General Sales Manager for KKCS AM/FM under General Manager Bob Gourley. A 1994 Radio Business Report market profile again identifies Grant as General Sales Manager for the combined KIKX/KKCS operation at 5145 Centennial Boulevard, during the period in which Wiskes/Abaris operated KKCS through a local marketing agreement.
Grant later moved into the station’s top management role. The M Street Radio Directory 2002–2003 lists him as both General Manager and Sales Manager of KKCS, by then operating from 3515 N. Chestnut Street. Industry ownership material likewise identifies Grant as General Manager of the KKCS AM/FM properties for Walton Stations.
Grant became part of a nationally reported radio story in May 2003. KKCS morning hosts Dave Moore and Jeff Singer played Dixie Chicks music for hours despite a station ban. Contemporary reports quoted Grant explaining that the hosts were suspended for several days after the stunt. The episode drew national coverage during the wider controversy surrounding country-radio airplay of the group and became one of KKCS‘s most widely reported moments outside Colorado Springs.
Documented Southern Colorado roles: KKCS General Sales Manager; KIKX/KKCS General Sales Manager; KKCS General Manager and Sales Manager.
