Shane Farris was part of the public-affairs operation at KKCS-FM in Colorado Springs during the early 1990s.
The Broadcasting & Cable Yearbook for 1993 identifies Farris as Public Affairs Director for KKCS-FM 101.9. At the time, the station was owned by Walton Stations of Colorado and simulcast its traditional-country programming with KKCS 1460 AM.
Public-affairs directors helped stations meet their community-service responsibilities by developing programming around local issues, organizations and public needs. Although these positions were less visible than the station’s on-air personalities, they were part of the local-service structure of commercial radio during the period.
Documented Southern Colorado role: KKCS-FM Public Affairs Director.
