KMAX-FM (94.3 MHz), branded KMAX 94.3, is a commercial mainstream-rock station licensed to Wellington, Colorado, serving the Fort Collins–Greeley area. The station is owned by Townsquare Media and is part of its Northern Colorado cluster.
History
The station’s construction permit was granted in 2000. The FCC assigned the call sign KKQZ in 2002, and the station received its license to cover in February 2003. The call sign changed to KMAX-FM in May 2007. After holiday-music stunting in 2011, the station adopted the mainstream-rock brand “94.3 Loudwire” in December 2012. It changed to alternative rock as “94.3 The X” in August 2015. On January 10, 2025, KMAX returned to mainstream rock under the KMAX 94.3 name.
