Gina Kavali is a veteran radio personality, digital-media manager and community advocate whose career includes multiple stints at 98.1 KKFM in Colorado Springs.
Kavali has said her interest in radio began at age nine, when a DJ played her request and she recorded the moment on a boom box. She later studied at the University of Georgia, where she worked on-air at student station WUOG, before building a career that included radio work in Atlanta, Fort Myers and Wilmington.
During her first major Colorado Springs run, Kavali became much more than a KKFM air personality. Professional records from the Citadel/Cumulus period identify her as Director of Interactive Marketing, Digital Sales Manager, KKFM midday personality and Community Officer. A contemporaneous professional recommendation identifies her specifically as Interactive Director for Citadel Broadcasting/Colorado Springs, documenting her role in the cluster’s digital operation as radio companies were expanding their web businesses.
Her digital responsibilities also included revenue development. Kavali’s professional record credits her Colorado Springs team with a corporate “Budget Buster” recognition in 2011 after a reported 300 percent increase in digital revenue. At the same time she remained visible on the air; a 2012 Colorado Springs Gazette feature identified her with KKFM while surveying local personalities about songs they never wanted to hear again.
Kavali later worked in additional radio and syndicated/digital roles before returning to Cumulus and ultimately to KKFM. The station describes the current run as her second stint with 98.1 and bills her as “Southern Colorado’s Classic Rock Chick.” By 2025–26, KKFM’s official schedule placed Kavali in middays, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. weekdays, with an additional Saturday shift.
Outside conventional radio, Kavali has worked as an actor and producer on independent films and developed extensive autism-advocacy work. She co-created Table Talk, a speed-dating event for young adults on the autism spectrum. KKFM says that work led to a cameo on Netflix’s Emmy-winning Love on the Spectrum. She also developed Life With the Spectrum and related audio/digital projects.
