COLORADO RADIO PERSONALITY

Ron Crider

Ron Crider is a Colorado broadcaster, station manager and broadcast engineer whose career included KNUS in Denver and ownership and operation of a regional group of Colorado radio stations.

Crider entered the KNUS operation in the early 1990s after being introduced to Denver restaurateur and broadcaster Pierre Wolfe by station owner Paul Stebbins. Crider later recalled that he became KNUS’s manager and engineer, working closely with Wolfe and helping support remote broadcasts from locations including The Broadmoor and food-and-wine events around Colorado.

When Al Martischang purchased KNUS in 1993, Crider continued as general manager. Broadcast Pioneers of Colorado records both the ownership change and Crider’s management role. The station was later sold to Salem Communications.

Crider subsequently purchased KLMO 1060 AM in Longmont with associates in the Hood family. His group increased the station’s power to 50,000 watts and expanded into additional Colorado markets, acquiring stations serving Vail, Colorado Springs, Gunnison and Buena Vista under what became the Radio Colorado Network. Crider also co-hosted Pierre Wolfe’s America’s Dining and Travel Guide and participated in the network’s local The Good Life programming.

Where Are They Now?

As of October 2026: Crider remains involved in broadcast engineering and station operations through Radio 1920. The company describes his team as building, rebuilding and remotely operating radio facilities for clients and lists Crider in Vero Beach, Florida.
