KLMO-AM was a commercial radio station in Longmont, Colorado, that signed on in December 1949. It operated on 1050 kHz and was the AM sister station to KLMO-FM, which began broadcasting in 1964. The AM call sign is distinct from the FM facility’s later Denver-market lineage.
History
KLMO began service in 1949 on 1050 kHz. The station developed as a local Longmont broadcaster alongside KLMO-FM and is identified in later station histories as the predecessor to KRCN on 1060 AM. Because frequency assignments and station call signs can be reassigned independently, this article records KLMO-AM’s documented historical identity without treating every later use of the KRCN call sign or 1060 kHz facility as the same unchanged operation.
