KLMO-FM

KLMO-FM was a Longmont station identity that began broadcasting in 1964 and formed part of the lineage of Denver-area FM services later associated with the 104.3 MHz frequency. The call sign is preserved here as a historical station entry.

History

KLMO-FM signed on in September 1964 as the FM sister station to KLMO-AM, then operating on 1050 kHz. The early FM facility operated at 104.3 MHz with 28,000 watts and a low antenna, limiting coverage to Longmont, Boulder and communities north of Denver. In the 1980s the station changed to adult contemporary programming and adopted the KQKS call sign and “104.3 Kiss FM” brand. Later call-sign and format changes took the 104.3 facility through KQKS, KWMX-FM and eventually KKFN-FM, Denver Sports 104.3 The Fan.
