COLORADO RADIO PERSONALITY

Alysabeth Clements

Alysabeth “Beth” Clements, later professionally known as Alysabeth Clements Mosley, was a KKFM morning personality in Colorado Springs during the 1990s whose radio career became part of a widely discussed advertiser controversy before she built a substantial second career in journalism and theater.

Clements was part of the KKFM morning show. Her departure in 1998 attracted unusual radio-industry attention after she criticized Taco Bell's local pricing on the air. Radio & Records reported on the firing in July 1998, while KKFM operations manager Paul Johnson told the Colorado Springs Gazette that the Taco Bell remarks were “the straw that broke the camel's back.” Clements maintained that the advertiser had threatened to withdraw business from the station.

The dispute continued well beyond her last broadcast. In first-person online postings in 1999, Clements again described the Taco Bell controversy and said she planned to preserve the articles surrounding her firing on her own website. Listener responses from former Colorado Springs residents explicitly remembered “Beth” as an important part of KKFM's morning show and described abandoning the station after her dismissal. Those postings are useful contemporary firsthand and listener evidence, though they represent the participants' own accounts rather than independent adjudication of the dispute.

Clements subsequently became known professionally as Alysabeth Clements Mosley. She wrote for the Colorado Springs Gazette; the newspaper's surviving author archive includes her 2010 feature on the history and character of Black Forest.

She also developed an extensive Colorado Springs theater career as an actor, director and dialect coach. In 2013, the Pikes Peak Arts Council named Clements Outstanding Actress for her performance as Blanche in Star Bar Players' A Streetcar Named Desire. She later directed productions including Springs Ensemble Theatre's 2014 Desdemona: A Play About a Handkerchief, and UCCS Theatreworks listed her among the Colorado directors participating in its 2020 production of Anna Deavere Smith's House Arrest. More recent Springs Ensemble Theatre productions credit Alysabeth Clements-Mosley as a dialect coach.
