William L. “Bill” Armstrong was a Denver broadcaster and station owner before his later political career. He entered radio as a child and became a teenage Top 40 disc jockey, working for Todd Storz stations in Omaha, New Orleans and Minneapolis under the billing “Bill Armstrong, The All-American Disc Jockey.”
In 1959, at age 22, Armstrong bought Denver-area KOSI 1430. He owned the station for roughly 25 years, added KOSI-FM 101.1 and built Armstrong Broadcasting Company. The AM became KEZW in 1981 while KOSI-FM continued the KOSI identity.
