George Sandoval was a prominent Pueblo radio manager, programmer and personality associated with KAPI 690.
The 1966 Broadcasting Yearbook listed Sandoval as KAPI‘s president, general manager, commercial manager, promotions manager and program director. KAPI devoted substantial airtime to Spanish-language programming and became an important voice for Pueblo’s Hispanic community.
Sandoval also helped Henry Reyes develop the cultural programming that led to the Colorado State Fair’s Fiesta Day. Historical accounts from the Fiesta Committee credit Sandoval and Reyes with arranging a major 1966 performance that helped establish the annual celebration.
Sandoval sold his interest in KAPI in the mid-1970s and moved to Denver, where he became general manager of Spanish-language KFSC and hosted a bilingual-bicultural program.
