Alvan S. “Al” Perry was a Pueblo-born broadcaster and radio executive whose career began at KDZA in Pueblo in 1948.
The Broadcast Pioneers of Colorado records that Perry started as an announcer at KDZA-AM, then moved to KCSJ while attending Pueblo Junior College. He later worked in Denver broadcasting and became a co-founder and chairman/CEO of the national media-brokerage firm Satterfield & Perry. Alongside broadcasting, Perry served for 35 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, retiring as a colonel in Military Intelligence.
Perry died on February 8, 2012, at age 83.
Southern Colorado stations: KDZA and KCSJ, Pueblo.
