History
KEXO began broadcasting on February 29, 1948, at 1230 kHz with 250 watts. It was licensed to Voice of Western Colorado. The station later increased its daytime power to 1,000 watts while reducing power at sunset. Its early studios were located in a downtown Grand Junction storefront; the original premises were demolished after a fire in 1963, prompting relocation. KEXO spent several decades with music formats, including Top 40 and adult contemporary programming, before returning to sports radio. On January 18, 2021, it began simulcasting through Grand Junction FM translator K243CP at 96.5 MHz.
