KJOL is a Christian radio station broadcasting on 620 kHz in Grand Junction, Colorado. It is owned by United Ministries and carries Christian programming across western Colorado. KJOL programming is also available through other stations and translators in the region.
History
The station signed on June 19, 1957, as KSTR, licensed to Mountain States Broadcasting Company. Its original service was 5,000 watts during daytime hours. Over subsequent decades the facility used numerous call signs, including KKTK, KKGM, KBZS, KKGJ, KRDY, and KSTR again, before adopting KJOL on April 23, 2001. A proposed expanded-band move from 620 to 1680 kHz was authorized in 1997 but was never constructed.
Programming and coverage
KJOL broadcasts Christian programming and serves the Grand Junction area. Its wider network includes KJYE AM 1400 in Delta, KJOL-FM 91.9 in Montrose, and translators in Grand Junction, Paonia, and Hotchkiss.
