KBZC-AM

KBZC was a call sign used by Colorado Springs’ 1300 AM station from 2002 to 2004. Branded “The Buzz,” it carried progressive talk before changing to sports radio as KKML, “Sports Animal 1300.”

History

The 1300 kHz facility adopted KUBL in 2000 and changed to KBZC in 2002. During the KBZC period it offered progressive-talk programming. In 2004, the station moved to a sports format and adopted KKML. Later call signs included KCSF and KQSC. The lineage is: KTWK, KUBL, KBZC, KKML, KCSF and KQSC.

KFUM began the station lineage that eventually became KVOR and later KCSF. W. D. Corley became the longtime early licensee.

By 2002: Citadel consolidates at 6805 Corporate Drive

By approximately 2002 — Citadel had completed the consolidation of its Colorado Springs radio group at 6805 Corporate Drive, Suite 130, inside the former Tiffany Square shopping complex.
