KPUB 1480 AM returned Pueblo’s 1480 facility to the air in 1963 after the original KTUX operation had gone silent during bankruptcy.
KPUB adopted a country format and became a significant Pueblo country outlet. In 1975 it launched KPUB-FM on 99.9, with the FM simulcasting the AM and extending the programming into nighttime hours.
The AM and FM were sold separately in 1978. The FM became KYNR, while 1480 later became KGMQ, KAYK, KRRU, KAVA and KIXD.
Paired / sister station: KPUB-FM 99.9 from 1975 until the 1978 separation.
