KPLV was an earlier call-sign identity of the Colorado Springs station now known as KKMG on 98.9 FM. The KPLV call letters were used from 1978 to 1981, before the station became KRQY and then adopted the “Magic” identity.
History
KPLV followed the KVMN identity on the 98.9 MHz facility. Under the KPLV call sign the station used the “Love 99” branding and an easy-listening/adult contemporary presentation. The call sign changed to KRQY in 1981. In 1983, KRQY became KKMG and shifted to Top 40/CHR as “Magic 99.” The 98.9 facility remains in use by KKMG.
