Dave Steele, who worked on air in Pueblo as Dave Fox, is a broadcaster, programmer and commercial voice actor whose radio career began at KKMG-FM “Magic 98.9,” when the station still operated from Pueblo.
Colorado radio career
Steele has said he entered radio in 1985 at age 15. At KKMG he initially worked part time on Sundays, making sure the syndicated Rick Dees program aired. During a snowstorm that closed Interstate 25 between Pueblo and Colorado Springs, the station’s overnight announcer could not reach the Pueblo studio. Program Director Lee Reynolds called Steele into live duty; Steele later credited Reynolds and Operations Manager Max Miller with continuing to coach him after that first nervous overnight shift.
A former KKMG employee who worked alongside Steele recalls his tenure as approximately1985–1989, with Steele/Dave Fox handling weekends and daytime fill while the station was still operating from its Elizabeth Avenue studios in Pueblo under Program Director Lee Reynolds and Operations Manager Max Miller.
Steele later described his KKMG work as part-time weekends and recalled the station’s Charlie Van Dyke-voiced top-of-hour identification, which emphasized the Magic FM signal from Cheyenne Mountain and service to Pueblo and Colorado Springs.
Later career
By age 22, Steele had become a program director. His career expanded across on-air work, programming and production, and he founded Steele Imaging in 2000 as a radio-imaging and commercial voice-over company.
Where Are They Now?
As of October 2026, Steele Imaging identifies Dave Steele as a Fort Wayne, Indiana-based voice actor working from his own broadcast studio. The company says his credits include radio imaging, television and sports promotion, national advertising, narration and character voice work, including Henry Emily/Cassette Man in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator.
