KCKK-AM was the call sign used by the Littleton-licensed 1510 AM facility now identified by the FCC as KPLS. The KCKK years covered several Denver radio formats and, in 2014, a locally staffed variety-hits station branded 93.7 The Rock.
Denver history
The FCC facility record for 1510 AM (facility ID 52249) lists KCKK among the station’s call signs from December 2006 until May 2020, when the facility adopted KPLS. The call history also records earlier identities including KDKO, KNRC, KCUV and KYOL. KCKK was also used on Denver FM station 104.3 during the 1990s before that frequency changed format and calls.
Hunt Broadcasting launched 93.7 The Rock in March 2014 as a simulcast of KCKK-AM 1510 and translator K229BS at 93.7 FM. A contemporary trade report described the format as variety hits and identified Denver native D.J. McCoy as its midday host. The translator later carried KDFD programming; its translator page records that change separately.
