Tom Turcotte was a Top 40 programmer and air personality whose career brought him from North Dakota to KYSN and later KRDO in Colorado Springs.
By September 1968, Broadcasting identified Turcotte as program director of KFYR in Bismarck, North Dakota, where he was recruiting announcers for the 24-hour contemporary station. Contemporary accounts of his move to Colorado Springs say he came to KYSN after roughly three years as KFYR's program director.
At KYSN, Turcotte became program director during the station's competitive “Kissin' 1460” Top 40 era. Former KYSN personality Jon David Anderson remembered Turcotte as both a friend and an important PD and recalled the station's “Kissin' Tellers” staff identity and its party-crashers promotion.
Turcotte's KYSN tenure was relatively brief. In March 1970, Broadcasting reported that he had left his KYSN program-director position to join KRDO in Colorado Springs as assistant to the general manager.
Former KYSN colleagues later recalled that Turcotte had died and described his death as a homicide. Because the archive has not yet located a contemporary newspaper, police report or obituary independently confirming the circumstances and exact date, those details are not presented here as established fact.
