KCEG (890 AM) in Fountain is a classic country station. If you like your country with a few decades of dust on it, and you’re south of Colorado Springs, this is your dial spot.
History
The FCC granted the original construction permit on July 28, 2005, and the call sign KJME was assigned on August 19, 2005. The license was issued January 6, 2012, and the station went on the air that year with an adult standards format. Later it carried classic country, sports and an all-Beatles format as “890 Yesterday” from December 2016.
It powered off on November 24, 2018, after its tower agreement was not renewed. On February 7, 2022, it swapped call signs and formats with its 780 AM sister station, becoming KCEG with classic country.
