KCSF-AM

KCSF (1300 AM), branded Xtra Sports Radio 1300, is a commercial sports radio station serving Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is owned by Cumulus Media and carries sports programming from national networks and teams, along with coverage of Colorado professional and local sports.

History

The 1300 kHz facility began broadcasting as KFUM on September 22, 1922, and was Colorado Springs’ first commercial radio station. It became KVOR in 1931 and later served as a CBS radio affiliate, broadcasting network news and entertainment alongside local programming. In March 2000, the KVOR call sign and programming moved to 740 AM; the 1300 facility took the KTWK call sign. It subsequently used KUBL (“The Bull”) for classic country, KBZC (“The Buzz”) for progressive talk, KKML (“Sports Animal 1300”) for sports, and KKCS for a brief return to classic country before resuming sports programming. The KCSF call sign was adopted in 2008, and the station returned to sports in November 2009.

Today KCSF airs sports talk and play-by-play programming, including national sports network shows and coverage of the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
