COLORADO RADIO PERSONALITY

Ken Lange

Ken Lange was a Colorado radio owner and executive associated with KADX-FM during the 1970s and early 1980s.

Broadcast Pioneers of Colorado records that Lange became a co-owner and general manager of KADX in 1973. The station occupied 105.1 FM and developed an unusually broad music presentation that included jazz, big band, Dixieland and blues programming.

By 1980, national radio directories identified Kenneth B. Lange as KADX’s general manager and sales manager. The station was owned by Belvoir Broadcasting and operated at 100,000 watts from Denver, targeting adults 18–49. Its weekly specialty programming included Jazztrax, a big-band show, traditional Dixieland programming, blues programs and artist profiles.

Lange’s management of KADX represents a period when independent FM owners could maintain highly individualized programming strategies rather than relying on standardized national formats. The station’s eclectic specialty schedule makes it a distinctive part of Denver FM history.
