Chris Austin

Chris Austin is a Southern Colorado rock-radio personality whose local on-air career dates to 1997.

Austin has said his family moved to Colorado Springs in 1980 and that he is a Manitou Springs High School graduate. He worked at KRXP/X103.9, where he co-hosted mornings and later moved to middays. In 2017, when Ross Ford became operations manager/program director of KILO and KRXP, Austin was promoted to music director of KRXP.

Austin later joined KKFM, where he has hosted weekday afternoons and the station’s “Big Ass Block of Classic Rock.” His official KKFM biography identifies sports and live music as two of his major interests and notes his long connection to the Colorado Springs community.

Austin’s earlier Southern Colorado résumé also included KILO and KVUU. By March 2014 he was on KSPZ/92.9 Peak FM; a Colorado Springs Sky Sox announcement identified Chris Austin as the station’s local DJ on a panel of radio personalities judging national-anthem auditions. He subsequently moved to sister KRXP/RXP @ 103.9. When he was promoted to KRXP music director in August 2017, RAMP reported that he had already been with KRXP for three years, initially co-hosting the Chris & Coba morning show before moving to middays.

Austin later moved to KKFM 98.1, where he currently hosts weekday afternoons from 2–7 p.m. KKFM’s current biography says he has been on Southern Colorado radio since 1997.
