Matt Pauley is a sports broadcaster and programmer whose six years in Colorado Springs combined local sports radio, professional baseball and collegiate play-by-play. A St. Louis native and graduate of Kansas State University, Pauley built experience in minor-league baseball and Midwest radio before arriving in Colorado Springs in 2010.
In Colorado Springs, Pauley became closely identified with the city’s sports-media landscape. He worked within the Citadel and later Cumulus radio operation, hosted afternoon sports talk and served as a sports reporter for KVOR. When KCSF 1300 AM was relaunched in July 2015 as Xtra Sports Radio 1300, Southern Colorado’s full-time sports station, Cumulus promoted Pauley to program director. Operations Manager Bobby Irwin credited Pauley’s enthusiasm for the station as a driving force behind the project.
Pauley’s Colorado work extended well beyond the studio. For six seasons he called Colorado Springs Sky Sox baseball, covering the Triple-A club during affiliations with both the Colorado Rockies and Milwaukee Brewers. He also broadcast Air Force Academy athletics on the Mountain West Network and handled college and high-school sports for local and regional television and streaming outlets. That combination of programming, hosting and play-by-play made Pauley one of the more versatile sports broadcasters working in Colorado Springs during the first half of the 2010s.
After leaving Colorado Springs in 2016, Pauley moved to Wisconsin, where he became part of Milwaukee Brewers coverage on WTMJ, hosting pregame and postgame programming and contributing reports, digital content and fill-in hosting. He also became the radio play-by-play voice of University of Wisconsin–Green Bay women’s basketball and worked nationally for SportsMap Radio.
Where Are They Now?
As of September 2026: Pauley is back in his native St. Louis as host of Sports Open Line on KMOX and as a studio host for the St. Louis Cardinals Radio Network. Audacy brought him to KMOX in 2022 after his six-year run in Milwaukee. His current on-air profile continues to identify him with KMOX Sports and Cardinals Radio Network coverage.
