KLST was the original call sign of the FM facility now known as KILO. The station signed on August 22, 1962, at 94.3 FM under Little London Broadcasting.
Little London Broadcasting
Historical records identify Douglas W. Dailey as the first president and general manager. The KLST call sign reflected the station’s connection to Colorado Springs, long nicknamed “Little London.”
Sale to Western Broadcasting
Western Broadcasting Company, owner of country station KPIK 1580 AM, acquired KLST in 1966. The FM became KPIK-FM and joined the AM in a country simulcast. In 1978, after a frequency move from 94.3 to 93.9, the station became KILO.
