Douglas W. Dailey helped establish commercial FM broadcasting in Colorado Springs as president and general manager of KLST, a 94.3 MHz station operated by Little London Broadcasting. KLST began broadcasting on August 22, 1962, making Dailey part of the first management team for the station that would eventually become KILO.
KLST was sold to Western Broadcasting in 1966 and became KPIK-FM, joining the company’s country station on the AM dial. Dailey’s documented connection belongs to the station’s founding era; the records currently consulted do not establish how long he remained with the company after that transition.
Southern Colorado station: KLST-FM 94.3, Colorado Springs (later KPIK-FM and KILO).
Documented role: President and General Manager during KLST’s early years.
