KRMX-AM

KRMX was the 690 AM Pueblo identity from 1981 until 2009. The calls were adopted alongside KRMX-FM, the former KAPI-FM, and the AM/FM pair initially continued Spanish-language service.

The FM broke from the AM schedule in 1985 and later became KUSN, while 690 retained the KRMX identity. In 1990 Ventana Enterprises, whose principals included Jerry De La Cruz and Diane Young, acquired KRMX. A 1997 trade report described the station as Spanish/bilingual; another 1997 market directory listed De La Cruz in management/programming/engineering roles and Young in sales leadership.

Paired / sister stations: KRMX-FM during the early 1980s. The AM later operated independently through several ownership changes.

In 2009 the station briefly became KSIP before adopting KWRP.
