KZLO was the original call sign of Pueblo’s 100.7 FM facility. It signed on in March 1976 as the FM sister of KDZA 1230 AM.
Format evolution
KZLO began with easy-listening programming. It later moved toward Top 40 and used the “Z100” identity, making the call letters a recognizable part of Pueblo’s late-1970s and early-1980s FM dial.
What followed
The 100.7 facility became KATM in 1986 and KGFT in 1992. Those later names are part of the same licensed signal, not separate stations.

KATM targets Colorado Springs as mainstream Top 40
KATM 100.7 moved its competitive focus into Colorado Springs as mainstream Top 40, challenging established CHR KIKX. The 100.7 facility had begun in Pueblo in 1976 as easy-listening KZLO and later used the “Z100” Top 40 identity before becoming KATM, “The Kat.”
