KSKE-FM (101.7)

KSKE-FM (101.7) is “Ski Country,” a country station licensed to Eagle, Colorado, and heard up and down the I-70 mountain corridor. If you’ve had a country station on in the Eagle Valley, around Vail or over in Summit County, this is probably the one.

Not the Kremmling KSKE

There have been other KSKEs. The 1980s Kremmling station on 106.3 is a separate facility with its own page: KSKE-FM (106.3). The KSKE call letters were also used on Vail’s 104.7 signal from 1989 to 2009, now KKVM. This page is for the Eagle station on 101.7.

History

This signal has gone by several call signs. Wikipedia lists the earlier ones as KGMJ, then KEYQ (which began in January 1987 with an adult contemporary and smooth jazz mix), and then KTUN. It also gives conflicting information about the original sign-on year, so we haven’t listed one here.

The big change came in September 2009. Wikipedia says the KTUN format moved from 104.7 in Vail to 101.7 and switched to country on September 7, 2009, and that the station took the KSKE-FM call letters on September 15, 2009. The KTUN calls now belong to a different station, KTUN-FM on 94.5. Wikipedia says the KSKE letters are short for “SKi Eagle.”

  • KEYQ: from January 1987
  • KTUN: later years, until 2009 (exact start date not found)
  • KSKE-FM: from September 15, 2009
