Joseph Michelli was a longtime KVOR 740 talk host whose afternoon program became a fixture of Colorado Springs radio.
Michelli’s radio career began at KRLN in Cañon City from 1973 to 1978, followed by KWBZ in Denver, where he used the air name “The Rock and Roll Kid.” After graduate study, he returned to broadcasting with the Colorado Springs-based Business Radio Network.
In 1997, Michelli began hosting The Joseph Michelli Show on KVOR, a daily two-hour afternoon-drive talk program. His own career chronology places the KVOR run from 1997 to 2007. On September 11, 2001, Michelli later recalled remaining on the air for 14 hours as the station covered the attacks and their aftermath.
Michelli announced in June 2007 that his final KVOR broadcast would be June 18, 2007. He subsequently concentrated on his work as an author, speaker and business consultant.
