The 1150 AM lineage began in Englewood in 1951 as KGMC on 1220 kHz. Grady Franklin Maples owned the original 1,000-watt daytime station. KGMC moved to 1150 AM the following year.
By 1959 Broadcasting Yearbook records show KGMC at 3355 South Broadway under MacLee Radio, with Robert B. McWilliams as president/general manager, Lee P. Rehling as co-owner/commercial manager/program director and Tim Sullivan as news director.
Western Broadcasting Corporation, owned by Corky Cartwright and Marvin Davis, acquired the station in the 1970s and changed the calls to KWBZ. During the KWBZ era Alan Berg hosted talk programming; he left when the station changed formats and later returned when talk returned.
The frequency subsequently used several identities including KRZN, KFRR, KCUV, KNRC and KNRV.
Lineage: KGMC → KWBZ → KRZN → KFRR → KCUV → KNRC → KNRV.
