KGFT 100.7 “The Word” is a Christian teaching-and-talk station licensed to Pueblo and serving the Colorado Springs metropolitan area.
The 100.7 facility signed on in 1976 as KZLO, originally operating from Pueblo. It later evolved into Top 40 and changed call letters to KATM in 1986. KATM moved its competitive focus and studios into Colorado Springs in 1988, first as mainstream Top 40, then Rock 40 and eventually full album rock.
In 1992, Salem Communications acquired KATM for approximately $950,000. The station became KGFT — “The Gift” — and flipped from rock to Christian talk and teaching. Duncan’s Summer 1992 radio supplement documents the KATM-to-KGFT call change that August.
KGFT later adopted The Word FM 100.7 branding and remains a Christian teaching-and-talk outlet. The station’s FCC facility is Facility ID 20579.
