COLORADO RADIO PERSONALITY

Michele Grove

Michele Grove is a longtime Denver broadcast engineer whose career has repeatedly returned to KYGO-FM. She began in radio at age 16 as an intern at KIMN 950 while still in high school. Although she initially considered on-air work, she became interested in engineering and began supporting KYGO remote broadcasts, repairing equipment and later helping build studios.

KYGO and Denver engineering

After time away to raise her family, Grove returned to KYGO in the early 1990s and developed her engineering career under longtime Chief Engineer Brad Hart. She remained with KYGO for approximately 20 years. A 2008 Radio World record identifies her as an engineer for Lincoln Financial Media serving KYGO, KQKS, KKFN, KEPN and KRWZ.

Entercom and Westwood One

Grove later spent roughly a decade working with Entercom, Westwood One and as a freelance engineer. She has credited that period with expanding her information-technology skills as radio engineering became increasingly network- and software-based.

Bonneville Denver

Brad Hart invited Grove back to KYGO in 2022. Hart retired shortly afterward and Grove succeeded him as Chief Engineer. By 2025 she was responsible for Bonneville Denver’s KYGO 98.5, KKFN 104.3, KOSI 101.1 and KEPN 1600. Her work included studio systems, networking, remote-broadcast technology and transmitter infrastructure, including installation work on a 30 kW GatesAir Flexiva transmitter at Green Mountain in Lakewood.

Legacy

Grove has more than 30 years of broadcast-engineering experience. Her career connects several generations of Denver radio engineering: Brad Hart was a major mentor during her early KYGO years, and she also worked with engineer and former Society of Broadcast Engineers president Barry Thomas. Grove has spoken publicly about the changing technical demands of radio, the shortage of younger RF engineers and her experience as a woman in a historically male-dominated profession.

Where Are They Now?

As of March 2025, Grove was Chief Engineer for Bonneville Denver, responsible for KYGO-FM, KKFN-FM, KOSI-FM and KEPN-AM.
