KRWZ-AM

KRWZ-AM was the “Cruisin’ Oldies 950” identity on Denver’s 950 AM facility. On September 2, 2008, the station left the sports-talk identity KKFN and returned the signal to oldies programming. Denver Westword’s contemporaneous coverage described the new sound as rock oldies and followed the station’s early ratings and on-air personnel.

The oldies format did not prevent the signal from serving as a sports outlet on selected occasions. In 2010, Kroenke Sports Enterprises, Altitude and Mile High Sports Radio announced a three-year arrangement under which Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche games would return to AM 950, with KRWZ-AM named as the station carrying the broadcasts.

In December 2015, KSE Radio Ventures agreed to acquire KRWZ from Entercom. Entercom’s SEC filing later recorded the sale of the station’s Denver assets in March 2016. The acquisition ended the KRWZ identity on this signal and led into the KKSE-AM / Altitude Sports Radio era documented on the related station page.
