Dick Brehm spent nearly 30 years in Denver radio, and he’s most remembered as the voice of classical KVOD. If you grew up with classical music on the Denver dial in the 1970s and 80s, chances are Dick was the voice you heard.
Getting started
Dick began at KHOW in 1958 as an announcer and engineer, working baseball and basketball broadcasts. From 1961 to 1964 he produced and hosted programs at KGMC 1150, then spent 1964 to 1967 as an afternoon disc jockey at KDEN.
The KVOD years
In 1967 Dick joined KVOD, where he spent about two decades as an on-air host and program director.
Honors
Dick was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers of Colorado Hall of Fame in 2012.
