Abigail Beckman

Abigail Beckman is a public radio reporter and host who spent six years at KRCC, CPR’s station for Southern Colorado, according to the CPR author page (2018 to 2024). If you tuned in for news out of Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region, this is a name you may remember.

Path to the radio

Abigail studied mass communications and Spanish, followed by a master’s degree in communications. Before KRCC, the Aspen Public Radio profile says Abigail worked at the Dodge City Daily Globe in Kansas and at 89.1 KMUW in Wichita, and produced a documentary about the Wichita State University plane crash. Reporting has also aired on NPR programs including Morning Edition and All Things Considered.

KRCC and CPR

At KRCC the beat covered Colorado Springs and the surrounding area: a man trying to push a peanut up Pikes Peak with his nose, farmworker protection laws and what they could mean for Colorado crops, and the Club Q shooting and its court case. The Colorado Broadcasters Association (CBA) credits also include a 2019 report on a Colorado Springs State of the City address that was disrupted by demonstrators, and a 2023 CPR project, A year since Club Q, shared with colleagues at CPR News (KCFR). More recent bylines appear on Aspen Public Radio’s site; we haven’t confirmed Abigail’s current role.
