Eleanor Bennett is a journalist and a Roaring Fork Valley native who spent four years as the Morning Edition host and reporter at Aspen Public Radio, the home of KAJX.

Growing up on KAJX

Aspen Public Radio says she grew up in the valley listening to KAJX in her parents’ car on the way to school. She graduated from Middlebury College in 2015, worked as an Aspen Public Radio intern, covered climate justice and women’s empowerment for SiriusXM in New York City, and produced the station’s teen podcast Gen Z Tea in 2019.

Morning Edition host

She became Morning Edition host in August 2020, replacing Molly Dove, hosting weekdays from 7 to 9 a.m. and delivering a daily live Outdoor Report. Her reporting covered COVID-19 health inequities, climate, new immigrants from Venezuela, mobile home park water quality and a project about Ute history in the valley. She left the host chair in May 2024 for an intensive Spanish language program, hoping to interview people in their preferred language.

Since then

Her later author bio describes her as an award-winning journalist reporting on regional social justice issues in collaboration with Aspen Public Radio and Aspen Journalism. The Colorado Broadcasters Association credited her work from 2020 through 2025.
