Lucas Turner was introduced by KDNK, the community station in Carbondale, as its news director in 2019, after years in student radio at Colorado Mountain College.

Radio CMC and Level Head Audio

KDNK describes Lucas as having run Radio CMC, the Colorado Mountain College station, for five years and teaching radio at the college. In 2018 Lucas won the Glen X startup prize, worth $10,000, for an audio production company, Level Head Audio, and talked about it with KDNK station manager Gavin Dahl in October of that year.

KDNK introduced Lucas as its new news director on an August 1, 2019 episode of its books show Booked. Colorado Broadcasters Association results from 2019 and 2020 carry Lucas’s name on KDNK work, including a public affairs piece, Nicky News Premiers The Tactile Traveler, a news report on a new technology facility opening at the Rifle Garfield County Airport, and the station’s coverage of the Grizzly Creek Fire, shared with Raleigh Burleigh, Amy Hadden Marsh and Kathleen Shannon.
