  • Sid Black

    Sid Black is a longtime Colorado Springs rock-radio personality on 94.3 KILO. If you drive home in the Springs with heavy rock cranked up, Sid is probably the voice in your afternoon.

    Afternoons on KILO

    KILO’s official bio lists Sid as the weekday afternoon-drive host, 3–7 p.m. In February 2021, Sid was promoted to assistant program director and music director of KILO. Sid’s on-air identity is built around heavy rock and metal, a good fit for KILO’s active-rock sound and long-standing local-personality approach.

    If you like your rock local, Sid also produces and hosts Loud & Local, a show built around local and regional rock artists.

  • Rich Stevens

    Rich Stevens is a Southern Colorado radio personality and promotions pro. If you listened to Jet 107.9 on KDZA-FM or My 99.9 on KVUU, you may have heard his name, or run into him at a station event.

    From Denver to the Springs

    Rich was assistant program director and morning co-host at KALC in Denver before joining KVUU in 2007 as marketing and promotions director.

  • Joe Cicero

    Joe Cicero is a radio personality whose career included a stint at 92.9 Peak FM (KKPK) in Colorado Springs. If you listened to Peak FM in the Springs in the late 2000s, you may remember Joe’s voice before the trip back to Illinois.

    From Chicago to Colorado Springs

    Joe’s radio path started with internships and stations in the Chicago area, then led to Colorado Springs in 2008 before returning to Illinois radio.

    Star 105.5

    In July 2009, Joe landed at WZSR Star 105.5 in the Chicago suburbs and stayed on its morning show for 15 years, signing off in December 2024.

    Where is Joe now?

    Since January 2025, Joe has been president of promotions and marketing at the McHenry Outdoor Theater, with a Saturday show on the side.

    Wendy Campbell is a former Southern Colorado radio personality whose local work included KILO and KRXP. If you had KILO on at lunchtime in the early 2000s, or caught KRXP around 2009, you may well have heard her.

  • Aaron Zytle

    Aaron “AZ” Zytle spent 16 years with Bahakel Communications in Colorado Springs. If you listened to rock in the Springs in the 2000s and early 2010s, you heard his work, whether he was on the air or running things behind the scenes.

    At KYZX/KRXP, Aaron worked as assistant program director, music director, promotions director, program director and afternoon host.

    Mountain Country

    When he left KRXP in early 2017, he stayed on the Colorado Springs airwaves as morning host at KQSC/Mountain Country. By then he had risen to program director and afternoons at KRXP.

    Texas and Louisiana

    Aaron later moved to Texas, then was appointed program director and weekday morning host at KYKZ in Lake Charles, Louisiana, in October 2022.

  • Greg Applebee

    Greg Applebee is a Colorado Springs radio personality tied to KRXP (X103.9) and the Bahakel rock stations. If you grew up on rock radio in the Springs, you may have heard the name alongside the rest of the crew.

    Greg turns up in our KILO and KRXP history alongside longtime staffers Jason Janc, Rich Hawk, Aaron Zytle and Lou Mellini. Also in that circle is Wendy Campbell.

    The stations

    KRXP and KILO share an owner, Bahakel Communications, which bought KILO in 1984. KRXP has carried its current call letters and alternative-rock sound since October 31, 2008, when it replaced 103.9 The Eagle.
